Federica Scaletti, Ph.D.

Scientific Director / Co-Founder

Federica is passionate about companion animal wellness and has cured dozens of cats that were diagnosed with feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), a fatal feline disease caused by a mutation of the feline coronavirus, using experimental antiviral drugs only available for research.

Her current research interests include balancing the antioxidant defense and immune system by combining chemistry and glycobiology tools.

Before co-founding Bloom Bioscience, Inc., Federica was the Chief Scientist of Zeta Biolongevity, Inc. and a Postdoctoral Research Associate in two of the most renowned research groups on Colloidal Chemistry for biomedical applications at the University of Texas at Austin and UMASS Amherst. Her prior research focused on the study of the underlying mechanism of noncommunicable diseases by combining colloidal chemistry and glycobiology, formulation of polymeric nano-capsules for cancer imaging and drug delivery using FDA approved materials, polymeric nanoparticles for siRNA or CRISPR/Cas9 intracellular delivery, and polymeric micelles for photodynamic therapy. Federica earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences working in the group of Metals in Medicine, a MS degree in Supramolecular Chemistry and Nanomaterials, and a BS degree in Chemical Sciences from the University of Florence in Italy.


CEO / Co-Founder

Chris is passionate about both human and pets’ health and nutrition, as well as animal advocacy, and spends his free time engaging with several local animal rescue groups. In addition to his role at Bloom Bioscience, Chris is the co-founder of  I Once Was Lost, a non-profit dog sanctuary near Austin, Texas.

He utilizes his background in nutrition, engineering and physics to lead the initial formulation of our supplements, and to assist our bioscience team as they develop the trials and methods to prove and perfect our science.

Chris received his bachelors of science in civil engineering from California State University Long Beach and maintains current professional engineering licensure in California and Texas.
